Alaska Fjordlines offers quality, personalized tours allowing plenty of time for viewing wildlife and points of interest. Our comfortable, high-speed catamaran is designed with an open wheelhouse so passengers can visit with the captain and crew while underway. An onboard library and natural history display are available for your perusal.
Alaska Fjordlines crew
Glen and Alison Jacobson started the Haines-Skagway Water Taxi in 1990. In 2001, they began operating as Alaska Fjordlines, running the Fjord Express to Juneau. In 2002 the Haines-Skagway Water Taxi portion of the business was sold so that the company could focus on the new Juneau enterprise. As a family owned and operated business, the Jacobsons' and their crew bring a friendly and intimate feel to their tours. Glen & Alison Jacobson live in Haines with their daughters, Anna and Libby and their son, Ketch.

Alaska Fjordlines Timeline
1991
Glen & Alison Jacobson begin operating the Haines-Skagway Water Taxi with the Sea Venture, a 42-foot, 40 passenger vessel.
1995
Construction is completed on the Sea Venture II, a 50' catamaran certified for 80 passengers. Built by Bellecraft in Naples Florida, the new boat was trucked overland from Galveston, Texas to Tacoma, Washington, then sailed north through the Inside Passage
2000
The San Diego, CA firm of Knight & Carver begins construction on the Fjordland, a custom-designed, 65' high-speed catamaran. The Haines-Skagway Water Taxi takes on a new name: Alaska Fjordlines.
2001
The Fjord Express to Juneau begins service. For the first time, visitors to Haines and Skagway can make a day trip to Alaska's capital city.
2002-2009
Alaska Fjordlines sells its Haines-Skagway Water Taxi service, continues to operate the Fjord Express to Juneau.
